Phyllis June Alder, 84, of Valparaiso formerly of New Haven, Indiana passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 7, 2022. She was born January 5, 1938 in Dayton, Ohio to Alvin & Anna May (Lindsay) Karn and graduated from Richmond High School. Phyllis was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Valparaiso. Following her grandkids events, especially their sporting activities, brought her much joy in recent years. She enjoyed playing games and painting pictures on her iPad. Phyllis took pleasure sitting outside with her husband and observing and conversing with family, friends, and neighbors. And it wouldn’t be fair to discuss Phyllis’ life without mention of her love for cats!
On January 23, 1969 she married Earl J. Alder who survives along with their children; Amy (Mehran) Alder Massoudi of Dallas, Texas & Jason Karn (Amber) Alder of Valparaiso, grandchildren; Grant & Abigail Alder, grandson, Nicholas Massoudi, brother, Captain Alvin (Francis) Karn, USN Retired of Yakima, Washington, and sister-in-law, JoAnn Karn of Holland, Michigan. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Eugene Karn.
A visitation will be held Friday, December 16th from 10 – 11 am CST at Angelcrest Cemetery Chapel, 180 East 600 North, Valparaiso, Indiana, 46383, with memorial service beginning at 11:00 am CST, Rev. Kevin Miller officiating with inurnment to follow.
