Rae Lynn (Craig) Steeb, of Wanatah, Indiana, and formerly of Merrillville, Indiana, passed away on February 10, 2026. She was born on October 19, 1954, to the late Roy Noble Craig and Inamae Louks Craig.
Rae was defined by her devotion to her family and her strong Christian faith. Her love for the Lord guided her life and was reflected in the kindness and compassion she showed to others. Known for her kind heart, caring spirit, and outgoing nature, she was a passionate foster for Small Paws Rescue, where she cared for Bichons with patience and compassion. Her home was consistently filled with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love.
She is survived by her loving husband, Don Rodney Steeb Sr. Also surviving are her children: Don Rodney Steeb Jr. (Amanda) of Valparaiso; Kami Valperts (Jeffery) of Corpus Christi, Texas; and Joseph Roy Steeb (Brandi) of Corpus Christi, Texas. Her grandchildren, Noah, Madalyn, Zackary, Jemma, and Oliver, were the joy of her life, and being their grandmother brought her endless happiness and pride. She loved each of them deeply and treasured every moment spent with them. Rae is also survived by her siblings: Rick Craig (Debbie) of Merrillville; John Craig (Debbie Lewandowski Craig) of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; and Beth Berger (Todd) of Knoxville, Tennessee; along with several cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents and her brother, Robin Roy Craig.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family via Venmo @Amanda-Leek-Steeb to help with funeral and medical expenses.
