Randall K. Goodwin, 78, of Wanatah passed away Thursday, August 28, 2025, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born June 7, 1947, to Harold & Donna (Kalb) Goodwin and graduated from South Central High School in1965. Randy made his career farming in Laporte County for nearly his entire lifetime, 40 of those years raising veal calves. He was always a hard worker and loved all the toil that his farm could offer which included many years tending a black angus herd. He was honest, dependable, made friends wherever he went, and was a devoted fan of the game of high school and college basketball. His 18 years serving on the South Central School Board fulfilled his sense of civic duty. But it was his adoration and support for his family that defined him, which included regular golf cart trips in recent years just to enjoy watching his talented grandson Mj  shoot hoops.

On November 26, 1965 he married Sharon Cromey who survives along with their children: Jeff (Tammy) Goodwin, Mike Goodwin & Mary (Jamie) Goodwin all of Wanatah, siblings: Jerry (Chris) Goodwin, Linda (John) Boyd, Janet (Mike) Bailey, & Kathy Greene, grandchildren: Jeremy (Elizabeth) Goodwin, Jordan Goodwin, Jamilyn (Coty) Buchwalter, Brandon (Mackenzee) Goodwin, Brooke (Dylan) Patrick, Bradey Goodwin, Daphney Williams, Jax Markus, & Mj Goodwin and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandsons: Zachary Goodwin & David Williams, and his sister, Karen Pressel.

A private service will be held Wednesday, September 3rd at Wanatah Funeral Chapel with burial at Salem Cemetery.

GUESTBOOK

Randy and I went to Clinton Twp, and South Central (I was a grade behind him). In my junior year my car broke down and I didn’t have the money to get it fixed so it looked like I could not go out for basketball since I had no ride home. Randy told me he would give me a ride home each night. If it was’nt for him I would not have been able to play basketball. I have never forgotten what he did for me! He will truly be missed. -Timothy Howell
