Rayko “Ray” Stepanovich, 72 of Valparaiso, passed away Friday, March 13, 2026. He was born on June 4, 1953 in East Chicago, Indiana, the son of Stephen and AnneMarie (Wietholter) Stepanovich. Ray began his career as an electrician working at Inland and U.S. Steel, and then he worked as an environmentalist for Avalon Springs. He enjoyed listening to The Beatles, making coffee, cooking, collecting, and his favorite shopping on eBay.
On December 5, 2009, Ray married Rose Fletcher who survives along with his children, Jason, Dana, and Amy Stepanovich; stepchildren, Jason (Becky) Gardner, Sharon (Ronald) Mashburn, Danny (Kayte) Gardner, Carolyn (Vincent) Mannarelli, and Bobby Flora; 24 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; and brother, Mitchell Stepanovich. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Peter Stepanovich.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026 from 3:00-7:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a Funeral Service on Saturday, March 21st at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville.
