Raymond J. Mast, 92, died peacefully on July 4, 2023. Ray was born July 17, 1930, in Nappanee to Jacob and Amanda (Miller) Mast. On October 10, 1953, he married Dorothy Reinhardt who preceded him in death. He then married Marjorie (Yoder) Good January 1, 1995; she survives.
Ray was a farmer, carpenter, building contractor, and school bus driver. He enjoyed working hard. He was a man of few words, but was always ready to help others by picking up a hammer and fixing what needed to be fixed. He was a long-term member of Hopewell Mennonite Church with his first wife Dorothy and a charter member of Open Door Fellowship with his second wife Marge.
Ray is survived by his three children: Donna (Steve) Haines of Indianapolis, Lon (Natalie) of South Bend, and Marg (Alan Ferguson) of Free Union, Virginia. Also surviving are his three grandchildren: Drew Mast of Indianapolis, Kelsey Mast of Lake Tahoe, Nevada, and Alex Mast of Austin, Texas; and one great grandchild, Delilah Mast of Austin, Texas. He is also survived by his second wife, Marge Yoder Good Mast; stepchildren: Marty (Ann) Good, Beth (Kevin) Gehrig; and numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Dorothy, and his three brothers: Lester (Milford), Robert (Nappanee) and Gilbert (Goshen); and stepson, Jeff Good.
Visitation and funeral will be held at Open Door Fellowship 636 S. Baums Bridge Rd., Kouts, IN 46347 on Saturday, July 8, 2023. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial service at the Hopewell Mennonite cemetery will be immediately after the funeral.
