Richard “Dick” R. Farman, 81 of Valparaiso and formerly of New York, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. He was born on March 16, 1943 in Chicago, IL to the late Robert R. and Anna C. (Brecklien) Farman. He proudly served in the United States Airforce as a Staff Sergeant, attended and was a deacon at Holy Nativity Lutheran Church in New York, and was a member of BARA aka the “Binghamton Amateur Radio Association.” After obtaining his bachelor’s degree, Dick made his career as an electrical engineer with Lockheed Martin for over 42 years before retiring.
He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, even collecting many, many hats to prove it. Dick was quite the jokester, often repeating jokes just to get a laugh. When he wasn’t busy being an amateur radio operator, you could find him going on walks and riding his bike enjoying the sights of nature. He was a true family man; spending time with his children and grandchildren brought him the most joy. His sense of humor, quirky personality, and caring spirit will be deeply missed by his loved ones and by everyone who got the chance to know him.
On August 6, 1977 in Hammond, IN, Richard married Kathleen A. Henderson, who survives, along with their children, Eric (Lisa) Farman and Amanda Bovair; and grandchildren: Miranda Bovair, Natalie Bovair, Valerie Farman, and Cassidy Farman.
There will be no formal services at this time. Internment of ashes to be at Angelcrest Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Dunes Hospice LLC or the American Cancer Society.

I enjoyed his natural levity and jokes. Always smiling. Sad to know the Lord took him yet he has a lot to do in peace now. -Tara Heiss
