Richard Joseph “Gus” Vaznonis, 77 of Valparaiso, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023. He was born on December 1, 1945 in Chicago, IL to Ignatius and Alice (Szczepanski) Vaznonis. Richard proudly served in the U.S. Army in the 101st Airborne and was a member of the American Legion Post #20 for 50 years. He made his career as a Fleet Manager for Union Tank for over 30 years. Richard enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping, and especially golfing. He will be dearly missed.
In 1970 in East Chicago, Richard married Linda Kaleta, who survives, along with his brothers, Kenneth (Pat) Vaznonis and Lawrence (Phyllis) Vaznonis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ignatius and Alice.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, from 10:30 AM – noon with a service beginning at noon. Burial immediately following at Calvary Cemetery, 2701 Willowdale Rd, Portage.
