Robert Britt Denney, 78 of Hanna, passed away Monday, May 11, 2026. He was born on December 15, 1947 in Monett, Arkansas to the late, Henry C. and Edith (Britt) Denney. A Vietnam Veteran of the U.S. Army, Robert made his career at U.S. Steel working as a fitter-fabricator. He was a member of the VFW Post 988 of Valparaiso, Lake Station American Legion, and the Howard County Vietnam Veterans Organization. Robert enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, and tinkering around with anything he could try to fix.
On December 30, 1970, Robert married Wanda Gail Lester who preceded him in death on December 4, 2016. He is survived by his daughter, Tammy (Robert) Szparaga; grandchildren, Dekota, Megan (Andrew Davis), and Spencer (Randi); great grandchildren, Audrey, Grayson, Alister, Palmer, Eleanor, and Abigail; and siblings, Charles Denney, Hallie LaJane (Bob) Ayers, and LaVada (James) McWhirter.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Wanatah Funeral Chapel 309 N. Main St., Wanatah, with a Funeral Service beginning at 1:00 PM and burial to follow at Hanna Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Howard County Vietnam Organization for the Healing Fields.
