Robert Duane LaLonde, 88, of Valparaiso passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 25, 2024. He was born March 1, 1936, in Chicago, IL to Peter & Blanche (Racine) LaLonde. Bob made his career as a Lithographer with Continental Can, U.S. Can, National Can, and Inland Steel Container division for over 4 decades.   Operating an electronic repair shop in Chesterton and then at his home, specializing in television and radio repair brought him great satisfaction. His membership at Heritage Lutheran Church nurtured him spiritually. A fascination with anything model trains, especially Lionel & HO gauge, continued to intrigue him throughout his life. And, did we mention that he liked to mow his grass?  Much pride and contentment was garnered from all the hours he devoted to the care of his lawn.
On March 9, 1957, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Tinley Park, IL he married Irene E. Rauch who survives along with their son, Duane (Peggy) LaLonde of Valparaiso, grandchildren; Paul (Christin) LaLonde, Peter (Amy) LaLonde, Duane LaLonde, Jr. & Krysta Zielinski, and great-grandchildren: Ewan, Cian, EmmaLee, Cole & Cheyenne.  He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Mark LaLonde, and siblings; Robert, Pearl, LeRoy, Eugene, Peter, Irene & Lorraine.
