Robert M. Finley, Sr. of Valparaiso passed away Friday, May 19, 2023. He was born September 28, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph & Dorothy (Cargo) Finley. Bob began his career as a union butcher in South Chicago with A & P supermarket, eventually serving for them at their Portage and Valparaiso, Indiana stores. Locally he will be remembered as the longtime Field Supervisor for the Lakes Area Conservancy District at Flint Lake.
Bob married Vietta Blunk who preceded him in death in 2020. Survivors include their children; Robert Finley, Jr., & Julie (Lorenzo) Ramirez both of Valparaiso, brothers; Joseph, Richard & Michael Finley, and grandchildren: Joshua Reis, Adriano Reis, II, Lorenzo Ramirez, Madison Ramirez, Eaven Finley, Katya Finley, Michelle Finley, Vietta Finley, Jasmine Finley, Jude Finley & Mohsin Braza. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Joe & Donald Finley.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, May 23rd from 3 – 7 pm at Moeller Funeral Home, Valparaiso. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 am Wednesday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Angelcrest Cemetery.
