Robert “Steve” McMeans, 80, of Valparaiso passed away Thursday, March 20, 2025. He was born November 15, 1944, in Valparaiso to Joseph & Gladys (Lindy) McMeans. Although a traumatic brain injury diminished his intellectual capacity early in life, Steve never lost his passion for living. His abundant personality could fill the room, and he sparked joy whenever he went. Laughter seemed to be his calling card. Steve’s time at Opportunity Enterprises, Special Olympics and Valparaiso Care and Rehabilitation Center served to develop friendships and enrich the lives of everyone within his sphere.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Joe, Jim & David McMeans, his grandmother and caregiver, Nellie Bell Lindy, special cousin, Billy Lindy, and his beloved aunt, Martha Bonner.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 25th from 1 – 2 pm at Moeller Funeral Home, Valparaiso with funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm and burial to follow at Angelcrest Cemetery. Click here to watch the recorded Funeral Service.
