Roger E. Kyes, 83, a lifetime resident of Valparaiso, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022. He was born December 4, 1938 in Valparaiso to John E. and Dorothy (Swelstad) Kyes. Roger graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1957 and obtained perfect attendance from kindergarten through 12th grade. He proudly served in the United States Army Reserves, before making his career as an Advertising Executive with The Post-Tribune for over 20 years. Roger was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed tending to his plants and herbs. He expressed his creativity through painting and had a great appreciation for gourds. Roger valued sustainability in reusing and recycling what he could. His kind heart, gentle personality, and thoughtfulness endeared him to everyone he met.

On April 17, 1982 in Valparaiso, Roger married Peggy Fea, who preceded him in death in 2002. He is survived by his children: Lisa (Kevin) Williams of Wilmette, IL and Christopher Kyes of Valparaiso; step-son, James (Debby) Dalfonso of NJ; granddaughter, Calla Williams; sister, Judy Hutton; and nephew, Tim (Marianne) Kelley. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Don Kyes.

A Celebration of Life will be held in April. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
