Roger Harlow Hanselman, 74 of Valparaiso, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2025. He was born on July 16, 1951 in Sturgis, Michigan, the son of Harlow and June (Neuschaefer) Hanselman. A graduate of Kouts High School, Roger made his 32-year career as the lead telephone repairman at Netco. After retiring from Netco, he worked for 10 years in the produce department at Strack & Van Til. Roger enjoyed traveling, and was an avid bowler, golfer, and White Sox fan. An excellent griller, he was known for his great meals and for bringing laughter and a smile to your face. And don’t forget the love he had for animals and his pets.
On August 25, 2005, Roger married Pauletta Evans who survives along with their children, Amanda Pezan, Ana Scheidecker, Troy (Michelle) Hanselman, and Jon (Alicia) Hanselman; eight grandchildren; nephew, Tim Stepp and family; his beloved dogs, Dixie and Duke; and grand dogs, Porsha and Merle. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Judy Stepp and Cathy Hanselman.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on September 27, 2025 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a Memorial Service beginning at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Porter County Animal Shelter.
