Ronald Anthony Oelling, 76 of Valparaiso, passed away Monday, January 2, 2023. He was born September 26, 1946, in Valparaiso to the late Howard and Margaret (Tucinski) Oelling. Ron graduated from Valparaiso High School and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He made his career with NIPSCO, most recently working as a Warehouse Supply Clerk, before retirement. Ron enjoyed watching old black and white movies and creature features, collecting old guns and knives, and taking pleasure in eating a delicious meal. He was a proud veteran and a gifted handyman. Though Ron could be stubborn at times, he will be dearly missed.
On February 28, 2002, Ron married Mildred “Millie” Hall, who survives, along with his children: Cheryl (Matthew) Altman of Frisco, NC, Rebecca (Frankie) Bosquez of Terre Haute, IN, and Jeremie (Elise) Oelling of Valparaiso, IN; grandchildren: Jolie, Logan, and Gretchen Altman, Trynity and Reegen DesArmo, and Taelynn and Kiana Oelling; great-grandchildren: Levi, Mya, and Gracie; siblings: Nancy (Larry) Jorgensen and Joe (Jan) Oelling; and sister-in-law, Deb Oelling. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Oelling; and brother, James Oelling.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Road, Valparaiso, with a memorial service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial of ashes will follow at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Valparaiso. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ron’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project.
