Roxanne Selena Styers, 69 of Valparaiso, passed away with her loving family by her side, on Thursday, April 2, 2026. She was born on January 30, 1957 in Knox, Indiana, the daughter of Roland and Margaret (Hogue) Gumz. A graduate of North Judson San Pierre High School. Roxanne obtained a degree in nursing from Purdue University. Roxanne worked as a registered nurse for 48 years with several notable accomplishments. Roxanne assisted with staffing the Maximum-Security Center with nurses that never had a program in place. Whether Roxanne was managing an ER or working in the ICU she loved every moment of being a nurse. Roxanne was a huge Elvis Fan and found enjoyment camping, boating, and spending time on Lake Michigan. Roxanne loved riding motorcycles with her husband, Danny, gardening, bird watching, and she was a sports fan, her favorite team was the Chicago Bulls. Roxanne was a colorful woman who loved deeply and cherished great friendship. Above all else she loved time with family and great conversation while gathering around a great home cooked meal. Roxanne loved spending time with her daughter and grandchildren watching late night movies while getting a makeover.
On July 30, 1977, Roxanne married Danny Styers who survives along with their daughter, Mistyna (Ronald) Patterson; grandchildren, Mila and Nora Patterson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Eula; and brothers, Jake and Claude.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on April 13, 2026 from 2:00-4:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a Time of Sharing beginning at 4:00 PM.
