Ruth Ann D’Asto, 87, of Boone Grove passed away Friday, September 13, 2024. She was born July 22, 1937, in Gary, IN to Joseph & Ruth (Wester) Langel and attended Calumet High School. Ruth made her career with the Gary Public School System for over 31 years as a Special Education Paraprofessional. Over the years Ruth cared for many animals, but especially one spoiled parakeet, and her beloved poodle named “Lex”. Despite having an ornery streak, she was always having family get-togethers and seemed to be the center of attention. As she liked to say “the more the merrier”.
Survivors include her children: Michael Solivais (Jackie), Theresa Gayda (Rick), Kim Robinson (late Dave), Rondi Solivais (Shelly Wade), and Mari Anne Solivais; sister, Sylvia Partain; grandchildren: Chad Solivais, Michael Solivais, Ron Solivais (Sarah), Rick Gayda (Brittany), Michael Wade (Amanda), Veronica Solivais, Jason Solivais, and Lindsey Solivais (Zak Kaiser); 10 great-grandchildren; and 4 step-children and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James D’Asto, daughter, Connie Parker, 2 sisters and 4 brothers.
A private family celebration of Ruth’s life will be held and followed by a committal ceremony at Angelcrest Cemetery Columbarium.
