Ruth Ann Gant, 86 of Kouts, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2025. She was born March 24, 1939, in Bantry, ND, to the late Milton and Helen (Guinn) Heath. Ruth attended Wanatah High School, and made her career as a Surgical Technician at Porter Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Kouts Christian Church, and had been very active in book clubs and card clubs. She enjoyed doing yard work, going camping with friends, traveling with her husband, and spoiling her beloved dogs over the years. Ruth was a wonderful cook, known for her legendary beef and noodles. She will be remembered for her fun and friendly personality, active social life, and great sense of humor. Ruth was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who will be dearly missed.

On July 16, 1960, Ruth married John “Jack” Gant, who preceded her in death in 2023. She is survived by their children: John (Lynette) Gant, Tom (Lori) Gant, and Susan Gant, all of Kouts; grandchildren: David (Julie) Gant, Jimi Volpp, Courtney (Travis) Janssen, Tim (Kelsey) Gant, Tanner Patterson, and Drew Gant; great grandchildren: Tyler, Tinley, Lincoln, Maverick, and Iris; sister-in-law, Pat Heath; brother-in-law, Jim (Donna) Gant; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Womacks; and brother, Rodney Heath.

A private celebration of Ruth’s life will take place at a later date.
