Sandra J. Brown, 80, of Valparaiso passed away peacefully at home with her family on Thursday, August 28, 2025.  She was born October 11, 1944, in Hammond to John & Lois (Wassermann) Eggert and graduated from Thornton Fractional South High School in 1962. Sandra made her career as an insurance agent at the Eggert Insurance Agency in Lansing, Illinois, which she had co-owned. She had been a member of the Lansing Business Women’s Club and enjoyed vacationing with family in Minnesota.  As much as she liked to cook and bake for her family, she had mixed feelings about their consumption of it, wanting them to enjoy eating just the right amount that would allow for ample leftovers for future meals. Having some of Sandra’s proverbial cake and eating it too presented challenging dynamics.

On May 23, 1964, she married Edwin A. Brown who survives along with their children: Scott Brown & Julie Brown both of Valparaiso, brother, John Eggert, grandchildren: Cody (Katherine) Brown, McKenzie Sims & Ava Radziejeski, and great-grandchildren:” Baylor Brown, Barrett Brown & Emily Sims, sister-in-law, Judi Brown, nephews: John (Amy) Eggert & Jeff Brown, and niece, Donna (Tom) Young. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law, Thomas Brown and sister-in-law, Sherri Eggert.

A visitation will be held Friday, September 5th from 10 – 11 am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 507 S. Rose St., Kouts, IN with funeral service beginning at 11:00 am, Rev. Joseph Ostafinski officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Kouts. Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
