Scott Lee Vickers, 66, of Valparaiso passed away Saturday, May 9, 2026. He was born May 27, 1959, in Hammond to Joseph & Frances (Kroush) Vickers, graduated from Griffith High School in 1977 and received an associate’s degree from Ivy Tech. Scott made his career as a Union Pipefitter with Local # 597. He loved working with his colleagues at Precision Control Systems for over 20 years. Scott was an avid Bass fisherman having competed in numerous tournaments not including the friendly fishing rivalry with his neighbor, Paul. Hitting the open road with Lisa by his side on their regular road trips would always brighten his spirits, especially if it could be combined with his love of WW II history and aviation development.
On August 17, 1991, he married Lisa Gernenz (nee Stillabower) who survives along with children: Brad (Kailey) Gernenz of Crown Point, Kevin (Abby) Vickers of Anna, Ohio & Kelly (George) Pierce of Valparaiso, grandchildren: Logan, Kadence & Jaydin Gernenz, Liam & Weston Pierce and his grand dogs: Rue & Harvey. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Following cremation at Angelcrest Crematory a private family ceremony will be held to celebrate Scott’s life.
