Sheryl Lynn Bartley, 63 of Valparaiso, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. She was born September 4, 1959, to Richard S. Bascom and Evelyn (Minarik) Bascom. Sherry graduated from Merrillville High School and made her career in the automotive industry for many years as the Service Advisor with Don George Ford in LaPorte, and at other dealerships in the area. She was most recently working as a Senior Food Service Manager at Family Express in Valparaiso. Sherry was an active member of the Valparaiso Baptist Church, where she participated in the women’s group, assisted in making the bulletins, providing food for special events, and making blankets with the Sisters in Christ. When she wasn’t working or at church, Sherry enjoyed going to the movies, shopping for treasures at garage sales, and spending time with her beloved family, especially her grandchildren who were her pride and joy. Sherry was a thoughtful and caring person, who put the needs of others above her own. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be deeply missed.
On February 5, 1979, in Crown Point, Sherry married the love of her life, Kenton Bartley, who survives, along with their daughters: Jennifer Mueller of Valparaiso, Kristen (Corin) Kelly of Union Mills, and Melissa (Alberto) Garay of Union Mills; grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Avilene, Marissa, Hayley, Angel, Evan, Victoria, Tyler, Ryan, Christian, Olivia, and Dakota; great-grandchildren: Everly, Amaris, and Nahul; and many loving brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Richard H. Bascom and Henry Bascom; and great-grandson, Ayden.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 3, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a funeral service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Entombment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Sherry’s name to the Valparaiso Baptist Church.
