Shirley Ann Johnson, 91, a lifetime Valparaiso resident passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023, at the VNA Hospice Center. She was born June 13, 1932, in Valparaiso to Allen & Grace (nee Baum) Massom and attended Valparaiso Schools. Shirley began her career with the Veteran’s Administration in Wisconsin following WW II before working 40 years with the Philly Company in Valparaiso in their Cutting Department. As a child of the depression, Shirley learned to stretch resources to the maximum, enjoy the simple pleasures in life, and appreciate the company of those around her.
On February 4, 1950, she married William Lee Johnson who preceded her in death on July 29, 1993. Survivors include their daughter, Tammy Bartucci of Venice, Florida, grandson, Rob (Janet) Huber, III of Valparaiso, and her sister, Judy Pelham. She was also preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Glenn Fleming, Marion Fleming, Gladys Miller, Dorothy Ludington, Marjorie Sears, Pauline Webber, Lorraine Murvihill & Bonnie Massom.
Following cremation at Angelcrest Crematory a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
