Slavica Zapcic, age 90, passed away on January 16, 2026, leaving behind a family who will forever feel her absence.

She showed her love best through the things she did every day. Her cooking was more than food-it was comfort, tradition, and a way of caring for everyone who sat at her table. No one ever left her home hungry, and many of our favorite memories were made around meals she lovingly prepared. Her garden was another reflection of who she was. Watching her tend to her plants felt like watching love in action-quiet, steady, and full of care. She also had a deep love for travel and adventure. She traveled all over the United States and Canada, enjoying the journey as much as the destination. Whether it was seeing new places, or simply being on the road, those travels brought her joy and stories she loved to share. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures: fishing, being outdoors, and the thrill of finding a good sale at the store.

Above all else, she was family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt, she gave endlessly of herself, always putting others first. Her love was constant, her presence reassuring, and her care unwavering. She taught us what it meant to love deeply, give freely, and appreciate the small things in life.

She is survived by her daughter, Maryann Zapcic; granddaughters: Ivana Green, Alexandra Green, Mariah Crowe; great grandchild, Octavia Crowe; siblings: Dragica Kantar, Ivan Culig and Nikola Culig; all of whom were shaped by her kindness and strength. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Ivan Zapcic; and siblings: Stepan, Branko, Vid, Juraj, Dragutin, and Ljubica.

Though she is no longer with us, her love lives on. With every memory that brings a smile through tears. She will be deeply missed, always remembered, and forever loved.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, IN, with a funeral service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery.
