Stanford Reade “Bunk” Warner, Sr. age 89 of Buford, GA passed away on Friday, February 24, 2023. He was preceded in death by his first wife of nearly 50 years, June Alphea Riddle Warner, and grandson, Dustin “Dusty” Wood. Mr. Warner is survived by his wife of 12 years, Delores Anne “Dee” Warner, Buford, GA; children, Stanford Reade Warner, Jr. (Debbie), Flowery Branch, GA, Heather Alice Warner Zdun (Dennis), Fishers, IN; 2 grandchildren, Dave (Kier) Wood, Cumming, GA, Brittany (Craig) Brady, Marietta, GA and great-grandchildren, Roland Wood, Coleson Wood and Finleigh Wood.
Mr. Warner was born on May 7, 1933 in Salisbury, MD. He was a graduate of Dundalk High School and a 1957 graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. He loved sports in high school and college and the Cincinnati Reds offered him a position which he declined in order to finish his college degree. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and served as president of his Chapter at Maryland. After College he served 4 years in the U.S. Army during which time he worked on the Jupiter Rocket Program at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. He attended First Baptist Church of Buford, GA for 10 years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Helion, AL.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Buford, GA with Pastor Wayne Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the Service. In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Buford Silvertones Choir or the American Liver Foundation.
