Stephen B.  Perrine, 81, of Valparaiso passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. He was born September 24, 1942, in Valparaiso to Robert & Bonnie (Sauter) Perrine, graduated from East Gary High School and served proudly with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Stephen made his career as a Machinist and Tool & Die maker for the Budd Company in Hammond for many years. He was a member of American Legion Post #94, loved fishing, hunting and anything in the great outdoors. His 1966 red Ford Mustang, and his 1968 black Pontiac Grand Prix were particular sources of pride for him and a part of his persona. But it was always his family that took the lead in his life.
On April 15, 1967, he married Lynn Stanovick who preceded him in death on January 25, 2021. Survivors include their daughter, Stacy (Paul) Wirick of Valparaiso, grandchildren; Skyler Perrine, Matthew Tressler & Mitchell Meade and his brother, R. Michael (Leann) Perrine of Chesterton. He was also preceded in death by a son, Stephen Perrine in 2012, and his parents.
A visitation will be held Monday, May 13th from 2 – 4 pm at Moeller Funeral Home, Valparaiso with memorial service beginning at 4:00 pm and military honors to follow. And now we close with Stephen’s own daily wishes for his family; “Good night, don’t let the bedbugs bite, and don’t let the turtles in the house. I love you!”
