Stephen C. Chambers, 70, of Valparaiso passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2022. He was born June 15, 1951 in Monroe, Wisconsin to Evan & Edna (Stabenow) Chambers, graduated from Monroe High School in 1969, and received a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin in Industrial Safety, and Industrial Management in 1974. His 32-year career with railroads began with the EJ & E Railroad working as Assistant Chief Engineer and culminating as Manager of the Car Department, then transitioning to the Florida Central Railroad where he served as General Manager.
Steve was the consummate family man, focusing his time on his wife and son. However, he may have taken his focus off of them briefly to watch his beloved Wisconsin Badgers, Chicago Bears, or professional golf. Regardless of the activity, Steve could always be counted on to encourage fair play, especially in his work environment.|
On July 7, 1973 he married Bernadette “Bernie” Purcell who survives along with their son, Matt (Mary) Chambers of Denver, Colorado, and granddaughter, Nell Chambers of Denver. Stephen was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings: Victor Chambers, Judith Smith, Lynn Chambers & Ruth Jones.
A visitation will be held Sunday from 3-5 pm at Moeller Funeral Home, Valparaiso with a eulogy ceremony beginning at 5:00 pm.

Sad that he will no longer be with you, and joyful for his release from all the confines Steve has had to endure over the last year.
