Thomas J. Kapalko, 60 of Wanatah, passed away Monday, January 15, 2024. He was born May 17, 1963, in Gary, IN to Stephen and Lee (Haile) Kapalko. Tom graduated from Portage High School, and made his career as a mechanic with the Gary Railway. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, attending NASCAR races, and watching football, especially the Indianapolis Colts. Tom was a devoted family man who always put the needs of his family above his own. He will be remembered as a dependable and trustworthy man with a generous heart. Tom was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed.
On August 26, 1989, in Valparaiso, Tom married the love of his life, Terri Gorski, who survives, along with children: Amanda Kapalko of Rensselaer, T.J. (Jessica) Kapalko of Tennessee, Tabatha (Andrew) Molina of Valparaiso, and Eliza (Ryan Watson) Kapalko of North Judson; grandchildren: Dreygan, Isabell, Leevi, Trysten, Maci, Addison, Skylar, Naomi, Damian, Caden, Braxton, and Braelyn; siblings: Steve (Eileen) Kapalko and Diane (Dave) Smith; brother-in-law, Joel Gorski; and sister-in-law, Tina (Jay) Wright. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Judy Amore.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso. The funeral service will begin on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Angelcrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family.
