Virginia Ruth Clarich, 80 of Hebron, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2023. She was born December 27, 1942, in Hammond to Elvin & Mildred (Pearson) Thompson and graduated from Hammond High School.  Virginia made her career as a cashier with Wal-Mart in Valparaiso for over 20 years.  It may be debated within the family whether it was her extensive collection of Boyd’s Bears or hollering “BINGO” at one of her favorite weekly games over the years that brought her more joy.  But there is no debate that her hand gestures of frustration aimed at her husband, Lawrence, particularly “the fist” that only served to solidify the bond they had with each other since high school.
On June 17, 1961, Virginia married Lawrence Clarich, who survives, along with their children: Lawrence Clarich, Jr., Dina (Wayne) Ward, Duane (Alicia) Clarich, Steven Clarich, Brian Clarich, Denise (Jimmy) Sullenger, Jason (Erin) Clarich, Laura (Harold) Rogers, Abigail (Stephen) Cullen, sister, Luisa Peterson, 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter-in-law, Mara Clarich, and siblings: Delores, Carol, Richard & Donald.
A visitation will be held Monday, July 3rd from 12 noon – 2 pm at Moeller Funeral Home, Valparaiso with funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm and burial to follow at Angelcrest Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the family.
