Wahneeta Jane Sausman, 92 of Valparaiso, passed away Friday, October 21, 2022. She was born August 15, 1930, in Green Township, IN to the late Bernard Ellis Clifton and Nellie (Hatten) Clifton. Wahneeta was a proud graduate of Culver High School. She had been a former member of Portage Christian Church and Flint Lake Church of Christ in Valparaiso. Wahneeta was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star – Hobart Chapter. In her younger years, she enjoyed her time on the Ladies Morning League bowling team in Lake Station. Wahneeta will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.
On August 15, 1948, in Culver, Wahneeta married Thomas M. Sausman, who preceded her in death in 1994. She is survived by their children: Linda (Curt) Nordhielm of WI, Dawn (Larry) Bergman of FL, Tom (Wendy) Sausman of Westville, and Cindy Sausman of Valparaiso; grandchildren: Donnetta, Ingrid, Hans, Gretchen, Shannon, Lona, Jessica, Sean, and Ryan; 13 great grandchildren; and sister, Nancy Strycker. She was preceded in death by four brothers.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a funeral service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
