William J. Ward, 84 of Valparaiso, passed away Monday, September 18, 2023. He was born September 28, 1938 in Winamac, IN to William N. Ward and Myrtle F. Cole, and was raised by his mother and step-father, Raymond Link. William was a U.S. Navy Veteran and worked at LTV Steel, where he retired as a motor inspector. He was a member of the American Legion Post 94 and the Moose Lodge of Valparaiso. An avid bicyclist, William was a member of the Calumet Crank Club, and enjoyed sports, traveling, cruising, and loved spending time with family.
On August 25, 1956 in Denham, IN, William married Vera M. Kasten who survives along with their sons, W. Mark Ward and Kirk (Tammy) Ward; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and step-father; daughter, Michelle Nightingale; and brothers, Donald and Larry Link.|
Visitation will be Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 12:00-2:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a Funeral Service beginning at 2:00 PM. A graveside service will take place Monday, September 25th at 11:00 AM Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.
