Wilma Jean Blood, 88, of Kouts, Indiana passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Brookdale in Valparaiso. She was born September 19, 1935, in Rensselaer, Indiana to Martin & Sena (Walstra) Hoffman and graduated from DeMotte High School in 1953. Wilma made her career as a bookkeeper with Patz’s Super Valu in Hebron for nearly 40 years and loved every day at work. Membership at First Baptist Church of Kouts, flower gardening, enjoying the outdoors, and caring for her family were great priorities for Wilma along with a love for Christmas and her collection of “Pipka” Santas.
On October 27, 1953 she married Richard Blood who survives along with their children; Susan (Robert) Woodard of Des Moines, Iowa, Cheryl (Richard) Stalbaum of Hebron, Rick (Tanya) Blood of Kouts, son-in-law, Andrew McKay of Hebron, sisters; Carolyn Stembel & Rita Toppen, grandchildren; Mike (Amy) Stalbaum, Mallory Stalbaum, Rachael (Ryan) Payne, Shane (Catherine) McKay, Kelsey (Patrick) Singleton & Kortney Blood, 8 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Helen McKay in October of 2023, and her siblings, Lois DeVries, William, Paul & Martin Hoffman.
A visitation will be held Friday from 12 noon – 2 pm at Kosanke Funeral Home, 309 S. Main St., Kouts, IN (new location) with funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm, Pastor Doug Murray officiating with private burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery, Kouts. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are requested to Dunes Hospice.
