Tia Marie Elkins, 49, of Porter, Indiana passed away Friday, July 26, 2024, as the result of an accident. She was born December 6, 1974, in Valparaiso to Michael & Terri Lynn (Higgins) Zell. Tia was currently employed by Coil-Tran in Hobart manufacturing electrical components. In her leisure time Tia enjoyed canning vegetables, trips to the beach and observing butterflies of every variety and taking in the wonder that they represented.  But it was her selflessness that defined her spirit, helping others whenever the opportunity presented itself.
Survivors include her children; Tiana Lynn Elkins and Kole Sullivan Elkins, her mother, Terri Lynn Riffle of Lake Elsinore, California, her father, Michael (Elsa) Zell of Valparaiso, three half-brothers; Shad Stoltz (Becky), Jason Zell (Marilyn), Eric Zell (Kim), 3 step-brothers; Douglas Riffle (Mimi), Bruce Riffle (Karen), Charles Riffle (Susan) and 2 step-sisters; Ashley Yager (Adam) & Allyson Beiswanger (William). She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Douglas Riffle.
Following cremation at Angelcrest Crematory a private family celebration of Tia’s life will be held.

Im am very sorry to hear of this great loss. I worked with Tia at Coil Tran back in the early 90s and have known her since my son was 3 and he is now 32…we used to hang out alot back then she was such a amazing person. I was so sad to read the article and find out it was her. My heart breaks for the family and children that will miss her. Praying for you all. -Amber W.

I am so truly sorry to hear of the loss your family has endured. Tia was always a bright light. I met Tia many, many years ago in Lake Elsinore.
